Crushing and Screening

Gromac Quarries (NQ) have the crushing and screening capabilities to produce TMR certified Asphalt Cover Aggregates, Concrete Aggregates and Unbound Paving Materials.  The Pinnacle Quarry’s crushing plant production ability is approximately 4,000 tonnes per day. 

The Quarry utilises fixed and mobile plant for the crushing and screening operations which consists of jaw crushers, multi-deck screens and cone crushers. Vertical shaft impact crushers (VSI) are also included into the circuit to produce fines and improve the shape of the rock. The hard rock materials are excavated from the blasted Quarry face and hauled with ridged and articulated dump trucks to the ROM feed boot.

Pugmill Wet Plant Mixing

In 2012 Gromac Quarries (NQ) installed a new state of the art wet mix plant at the Pinnacle Quarry, which is capable of producing 400 tonnes per hour of plant mixed stabilised pavement at the required cement percentages. On a daily basis we supply from this wet mix plant, TMR compliant cement treated material, for various local contracts including TMR projects in the Townsville region. The Pug mill output and blending capability is approximately 3,000 tonnes per day.

Aggregate Precoating

Gromac Quarries (NQ) have the aggregate washing and precoating capabilities with bituminous emulsion to achieve the initial bond between aggregate particles and binder in hot sprayed sealing work to create a water proof surface. The Pinnacle Quarries precoating plant is capable of producing 100 tonnes per hour.

Transport

Gromac Quarries (NQ) have a modern NHVAS accredited road transport fleet of prime movers and tippers. We service all industries and focused on well-timed execution and quality of all projects, providing a wide range of Quarry product deliveries. We also utilise a fleet of private, locally owned sub-contracted road transport vehicles, that work on a permanent and casual basis for Gromac Quarries (NQ). Our Quarry sites utilise weighbridges at Pinnacle and Plumtree Quarry which are regularly serviced and verified. Delivery dockets are issued electronically for every load dispatched over the weighbridge and information is stored in a database. All of the front-end loaders owned by the company are fitted with load scales and these are used to determine the load weights at the sites without weighbridges.
